Almost Sold Out Red Bull Game v. Sold Out International Game

The New York Red Bulls will play New York City FC at the Red Bulls Arena, in New York Derby (aka Hudson River Derby) on Sunday, July 17, 2022, starting at 5 p.m. (ET). The game may sell out as ticket sales are at 20,000 and the buzz about the same is growing.  The Red Bulls Arena holds a maximum of 25,000 fans. The first ten thousand fans get a free Derby Soccer Game Scarf, so less than half the fans are getting the scarf.

Sold Out games at the Red Bulls Arena usually mean a lot of headaches for residents in terms of access to their homes and apartments and of course TRAFFIC. Emergency Services for Harrison are stretched to their extreme even with the assistance of the Hudson County Sheriff’s Office and backup from mutual aid if necessary.  The Harrison Police Department has issued a Traffic Bulletin for the game.

Mayhem & A Saving Grace

Residents need to plan today (July 17^th, 2022) to avoid the mayhem starting around 3 p.m. for the 5 p.m. kickoff.

The last international game at the Red Bulls Arena between Ecuador and Nigeria was held during the week on a Thursday night rather than the weekend which helps with the traffic but over 20,000 fans is still a lot to handle.

The only saving grace is that the New York City FC is based out of New York City and it is expected that many of the New York City FC fans will take the Path Train from New York City to the Harrison Path Station.  It is a short walk from the Path Station to the Red Bulls Stadium. The more fans that take the train will exponentially decrease the traffic impact on the residents of Harrison.

New York City FC is the reigning Major League Soccer (MLS) Cup Champion.  The club is co-owned by Yankee Global Enterprises (who also owns the New York Yankees) and City Football Group which also owns the English soccer club Manchester City.  New York City FC played its first Eastern Conference MLS game in 2015.  New York City FC’s home court is Yankee Stadium in the Bronx.

The Red Bulls and the New York City FC's last game against each other was just less than a month ago on Wednesday, June 22, 2022.  The Red Bulls won the game 3 to 0. You can see highlights of the game on the Red Bulls website.  The game was more competitive than the score reflects.

If you promise to walk or take the Path Station,  rush over to Ticketmaster to get a pair of the last seats because you do not want to go alone. The game is Presented by Heineken.

Barcelona FC v. Red Bulls Next Sold Out Game

Coming up on July 30, 2022, is the Barcelona FC v. Red Bulls game which is expected to sell out. The Barcelona FC fans are highly unlikely to take the Path train to the game although if they were smart they would come in on a train to Newark Penn Station and take the Path train to Harrison if they are coming from Northern New Jersey.  Check out our previous article Barcelona FC v.
