Oct 31, 2024The Harrison Fire Department, in partnership with FMBA Local No. 22, invites all residents to join a day of fun, learning, and community bonding at the annual Junior Firefighter Day. The event, which will take place on Saturday, November 2, 2024, runs from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Harrison Library Park on the Ann Street side, right next to the Harrison Public Library. Families, especially those with children, are encouraged to stop by and enjoy a range of engaging activities, food, and refreshments in a safe and festive environment.
Attendees can look forward to an exciting lineup of activities designed to entertain and educate children about fire safety. As in past years, Junior Firefighter Day will feature a variety of attractions, including face painting, a bounce house, and supervised firefighting activities led by Harrison's own firefighters. Children will have the opportunity to "Spray a Fire Hose" to experience the power of firefighting tools, crawl through a Smokehouse Tunnel to learn about fire escape techniques, and tour a real fire engine to see the tools and equipment firefighters use daily. There will be food, beverages, Halloween candy, and prizes awarded to lucky participants, making it a memorable day for all.
The Harrison Fire Department has a long-standing tradition of involvement in community events and celebrations, strengthening the bond between firefighters and residents, from marching in the annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade to leading up front in the past Harrison Fest Grand Parade,
