Local soccer fans are bracing for a thrilling Sunday as the New York Red Bulls II gear up to face New York City FC II in a Major League Soccer Next Pro league match on March 30, 2025. The game, which is set to kick off at 2:00 PM at the Sports Illustrated Statdium (formerly the Red Bull Arena), is not just a test of skills between the junior squads but also a display of the growing talent within the U.S. soccer scene. The crowds for the game are expected to arrive early for pregame fan events. THe game was moved to the Sports Illustrated Stadium, which was not its original venue, and its time was switched from 5 p.m. to 2 p.m.

The New York Red Bulls II, often referred to as NYRB II, is the reserve team for the New York Red Bulls. As a part of the MLS Next Pro league, NYRB II plays a crucial role in developing younger players and providing a stepping stone to the senior MLS team. Similarly, New York City FC’s reserve team participates in this developmental league, fostering talents who might one day shine in the Major League Soccer regular seasons.

The upcoming match per the Harrison Police Department is anticipated to attract around 400 fans, indicating a modest yet passionate local following for the burgeoning league. However, attendees and residents can expect significant traffic modifications and strict parking restrictions due to the event.

Important Traffic and Parking Notices:

Road Closures

Peter B. Higgins Blvd. will be closed from Guyon Dr. to Crucible Dr. starting at 8:00 AM until approximately 11:30 PM on game day. Additional closures will include Crucible Drive from South Fifth St to Peter B. Higgins Blvd., and Riverbend Drive from Frank E Rodgers Blvd to Peter B. Higgins Blvd. from 12:00 PM to 11:30 PM.

Signs will be posted in advance. All construction personnel and vehicles must be cleared from the streets, and any vehicles found in violation will be ticketed and towed.

Resident Escorts

The Harrison Police Department will provide escorts for residents needing to access their homes during the road closures. Staging for these escorts will be located in the parking lot next to Seabras, ensuring that residents can safely navigate the congested areas.

The police have urged anyone with questions or concerns to contact the Harrison Police Department directly at (973) 483-4100 or via email at [email protected].
