Harrison NJ School Year 2023 Starts Wed. Sept. 6th

The Town of Harrison in Hudson County, New Jersey, is buzzing with excitement as schools are set to open for the academic year on Wednesday, September 6, 2023, at 9 a.m. This is a significant day for students, parents, and educators alike, marking the beginning of new learning opportunities and challenges. The school day will only be 4 hours and 11 minutes long as the first three days of school let out at 1:11 p.m. with an Early Dismissal that counts as a full day of school. In other words, Harrison Public Schools will be open from 9 a.m. to 1:11 p.m. in the afternoon on Wednesday, September 6, 2023, through Friday, September 8, 2023.  Regular School hours until 3 p.m. begin on Monday, September 11, 2023.

Traffic and Safety Concerns

As Schools reopen, there will be an increase in foot and vehicular traffic around school zones. Here are some safety tips for drivers:

1. Slow Down: Always adhere to speed limits, especially in School Zones.
2. Be Alert: Watch out for children walking to school.
3. No Distractions: Avoid using mobile phones or any other distractions while driving. It is the law and is subject to a high fine per violation.  It is especially important not to be distracted when schools open.
4. Follow Traffic Rules: Obey all traffic signs and signals. Do not park in no-parking zones.
5. Be Patient: Expect some delays due to increased traffic and be patient to ensure everyone's safety.
