Home Opener: NJ/NY Gotham FC v OL Reign Sat. Apr. 1st Red Bulls Arena

The Red Bulls Arena will see the NJ/NY Gotham FC team for the first time this year on Saturday, April 1, 2023, at 7:30 pm. when the team takes on the OL Reign soccer team in NJ/NY Gotham FC's Home Opener.

OL Reign has won three of its last five games with NJ/NY Gotham FC. In the last game played at the Red Bulls Arena last September (2022), OL Reign won 1-0. The game represented three wins in a row for OL Reign against NJ/NY Gotham FC.  NY/NJ Gotham had however won two games in a row prior to OL Reign’s three-game winning streak.

Background on OL Reign

OL Reign makes it home in Seattle Washington.  It is quite a trip across the country for the OL Reign players, coaches, staff, and fans. The team is one of the eight inaugural members of the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL).  The team was founded by Bill and Teresa Predmore in 2012.  The team was initially called the Seattle Reign FC but in 2020 it was rebranded as the OL Reign after OL Groupe, the parent company of two French clubs Olympique Lyonnais and Olympique Lyonnais Feminin, who became the Seattle Reign FC’s majority owner.

OL Reign started playing its home games at Lumen Field located in Seattle last year (2022).  The Lumen Field is also home to the National Football League’s  Seattle Seahawks, and the Major League Soccer Seattle Sounders FC. The stadium is configured differently for a soccer game than it is for a Football game.  Lumen Field holds 67,000 fans.  Although the stadium has filled up with fans with Soccer games in the past, the OL Reign soccer team is not expected to fill up the stadium nor did anyone anticipate that would happen.  Maybe one day it will.

How to Get Tickets:

Tickets for the game are available through Ticketmaster. The game starts at 7:30 p.m. but arrive earlier for pre-game activities at the Red Bulls Arena.

The Harrison Police Department has not issued a Traffic Alert for this game.  NY/NY Gotham FC games fans come in from New York City on the Path Train and walk over the short distance to the Red Bull Arena so there is a lot less traffic than other soccer games including the Red Bulls Soccer games.
