Hudson County’s Vision Zero initiative, chaired by County Executive Craig Guy, invites community members to participate in upcoming public meetings as the county develops its Vision Zero Action Plan. The initiative will host a virtual meeting on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Those interested in joining online can register at www.hcnj.us/visionzero. Registration is required for the virtual session.

For those who prefer to attend in person, a second meeting will be held on Wednesday, October 16, 2024, at the Harrison Recreation Center, located at 401 Warren Street, Harrison, NJ. The in-person meeting will provide another opportunity for residents to engage in discussions about road safety and share their thoughts directly with the Vision Zero team.

Hudson County’s Vision Zero Action Plan aims to eliminate all traffic-related deaths and severe injuries on county roadways, promoting a safer, more equitable transportation system for all residents. Frank E. Rodgers Blvd and Harrison Avenue are both Hudson County roadways.

Over the past six months, the Hudson County Vision Zero Committee has worked to gather and analyze data and engage with residents and stakeholders to develop a draft action plan. Now, the committee is seeking feedback from the public to refine their recommendations.

The idea behind Hudson County’s Vision Zero Action Plan is to have safe and comfortable transportation as a right for everyone who moves through our community. The Vision Zero Action Plan is our roadmap to make the latter a reality, but it needs input from residents and stakeholders in the Town of Harrison so it takes into account the unique circumstances such as a severe lack of parking in part of the community.

These public meetings offer residents the chance to learn more about the Vision Zero project and contribute to the future of Hudson County’s transportation infrastructure. The committee will present its findings and draft recommendations, inviting attendees to share their thoughts and priorities.

To register for the virtual meeting on October 15, visit www.hcnj.us/visionzero. Those interested in the in-person meeting can find more information and register at www.hcnj.us/visionzero/get-involved.

Join Hudson County Executive Craig Guy in his and his committee’s mission to make the roads safer for everyone by participating in one of these crucial sessions.
