Inaugural WHATCo Production “Drop Dead!” Opens Fri. 2/24/2023

The West Hudson Arts & Theater Company (WhatCo) is starting its Main Stage production for the 2023 Season with a play Directed by Matt Masiello entitled Drop Dead!  on Friday and Saturday, February 24, 2023, and February 25, 2023, and the following Friday and Saturday, March 3 and 4^th 2023.  The play is intended for a mature audience but is a comedy.  Director Matt Masiello will be joined by actors Dylan Myers, Nicole Gallin, Arthur Carlson, John Fraissinet, Donna Frassinet, Jessica Jones, John Branwell, Richard Dwyer, Jonathan Rueda, and K. Dixon.

Drop Dead! was written by Billy Van Zandt and Jane Milmore and is being presented by arrangement with Concord Theatricals on behalf of Samuel French, Inc. www.concordtheatricals.com Drop Dead! will be the inaugural theatre production to grace the Main Stage at WHATCo’s new venue located at 15 So. Frank E. Rodgers Blvd in Harrison, NJ. The Theatre is within a former school building which has very high ceilings.  The Theatre has a rich history and must be seen to be fully appreciated.

The following is a summary of the play: A nonstop physical comedy that turns the world of theater on its head. A cast of has-been actors plan to revive their careers in "Drop Dead!," a potboiler murder mystery  At the dress rehearsal the set falls apart around them, props break, and the producer and an actor are murdered. But the show must go on! And so it does, where at the opening night performance, the murders continue and the play goes incredibly wrong. The remaining thespians must save the show and their careers, solve the mystery, and stay alive for curtain calls.
