Leagues Cup: NYC FC v Red Bulls Thu. Aug. 3, 2023

 The New York City FC soccer team is set to face off against the New York Red Bulls on Thursday, August 3, 2023, at the Red Bulls Arena in Harrison, NJ. The game, which is part of the Major League Soccer (MLS) Leagues Cup, is scheduled to start at 8 p.m.

New York City FC: A Brief Overview

New York City FC, often simply referred to as NYCFC, is a professional soccer club based in New York City. The team was first established in 2013 and played its inaugural season in 2015. NYCFC is owned by City Football Group, which also owns Manchester City FC, and the New York Yankees.

The team's home games are held at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, a venue primarily used for baseball games. The stadium has a seating capacity of baseball games of 46,537 and  for soccer matches 28,743. NYCFC is in the process of  building its own soccer specific stadium in Queens, New York next to Citi Field.  NYCFC fans do not like the Red Bulls Arena being designated their Home Stadium because it is their rivals stadium and they contend that it is a difficult stadium to get in and out of and there is a lack of planning for game days by the Port Authority of New York / New Jersey in providing sufficient Path trains from New York City to the Harrison Path station.

As of the latest standings, New York City FC is currently in 13th place in the Eastern Conference of the MLS with 5 Wins 8 Losses and 11 Tied games.

New York Red Bulls: A Brief Overview

The New York Red Bulls, on the other hand, are one of the original teams of the MLS, having been established in 1994 as the New York/New Jersey MetroStars and began play in the league in 1996.. The team underwent a name change in 2006 when it was purchased by Red Bull GmbH.

The Red Bulls play their home games at the Red Bull Arena, located in Harrison, New Jersey. The stadium, which opened in 2010, is one of the premier soccer-specific stadiums in the United States and has a seating capacity of 25,000 for soccer events.

As per the latest standings, the New York Red Bulls are currently in 11th place in the Eastern Conference of the MLS with 6 wins 9 Losses and 8 Tied games.

Tickets for the game can be purchased through Ticketmaster. There has been no Traffic Bulletin issued by the Harrison Police Department as of the publication date of this article.
