Harrison Police National Night Out Tues. August 2, 2022
Jul 31, 2022On Tuesday, August 2, 2022, the Harrison Police will be participating in National Night Out. National Night Out started in 1984 to provide an annual event centered around community policing. The concept is to have police officers meet the community and especially children so that it promotes neighborhood camaraderie which leads to safer neighborhoods from better relationships between residents and the police officers. It is an opportunity to meet your local police officer in a fun environment and for an officer to meet community members they would otherwise not get to know. It makes a difference when a police officer meets a resident at a community event.
The event is a national event and millions of people across the United States gather for the event. Many communities hold block parties, festivals, parades, and cookouts, and some hold seminars, safety demonstrations, and exhibits of police equipment.
The Harrison Police Department will be holding its National Night Out in Library Park on Harrison Avenue between South Frank E. Rodgers Blvd and South 5th Street in Harrison from 6 p.m. to 9.m. on Tuesday, August 2, 2022. The Harrison Police Department, the Harrison Lions Club, and the Harrison-East Newark Elks will be participating. There may be other groups participating. Let us know through out Community Discussion Board if you are also participating so we can update this article.
