Nutley Water Pipe Breakage Impacts Harrison Indirectly
Oct 09, 2022The Superintendent of the Harrison Public Works (DPW), Robert Van Riper issued a Bulletin on Sunday, October 9, 2022, indicating that the Town of Harrison’s water supplier, the Passaic Valley Water Commission (PVWC) was participating along with other water companies in supplying water to the communities affected by a 6 foot in diameter water pipe that burst in Township of Nutley earlier in the week.
The Town of Harrison is not directly impacted by the Nutley water pipe breakage but Harrison’s water supplier has diverted some of its water to assist the Towns of Montclair & Glen Ridge that are directly impacted.
If the water pressure in Harrison is lowered because PVWC is supplying water to other municipalities then there could be some discoloration of the Resident’s water.
There was a least one complaint on social media about discolored water in Harrison. It was not clear whether that complaint was caused by the current crisis. The bulletin states “Any customers who encounter water discoloration are advised to run their cold water taps, flushing the pipes until water runs clear.”
