Red Bull Soccer Has No Youth Soccer Camps In Its Home Court

The New York Red Bulls, a Major League Soccer team known for its elite play and contribution to the growth of soccer in the United Staes, has become a significant part of New Jersey's sports culture. The Red Bulls' home, the Red Bulls Arena, is a significant landmark situated in Harrison, NJ. However, despite being hosts to the illustrious team and enduring game-day traffic and road closures, the residents of Harrison have not been chosen as hosts to the Red Bulls' youth soccer camps. These camps are renowned for developing young talent, fostering lifelong memories, and inspiring the future generation of soccer enthusiasts.

The Red Bulls offer comprehensive training camps throughout the year in Spring, Summer, and Fall. While they are conducted in different parts of New Jersey, the closest to Harrison include Newark, Kearny, Secaucus, and Montclair among other more distant locations.  The Red Bulls Soccer Team Youth Camps are noticeably absent in Harrison, the town that proudly hosts the Red Bulls Arena. This decision has left some residents wondering why the youth of their community have not been offered the same opportunities for development and engagement that the camps provide.

Rich Soccer History

Despite this, it's worth noting that Harrison and its neighboring town, Kearny, are recognized for their rich soccer history. They are the hometowns of some of America's finest soccer players, including John Harkes, Tony Meola, and Tab Ramos, all of whom represented the United States in the World Cup. These illustrious players credit The Court of Harrison, a miniature soccer court in Harrison NJ, with helping them hone their soccer skills and providing a foundation for their success.

While the Red Bulls have not yet brought their youth soccer camps to Harrison, the town remains passionate about the sport. The local community shows their support and celebrates their rich soccer heritage in many ways. One of the most notable events was the unveiling last year of the Harrison Soccer Sculpture Monument on October 8, 2022.

Commissioned by the Friends of Harrison whose President is Michael Dolaghan, the event attracted several special Soccer playing guests and was held at the Harrison Library Park. The monument serves as a testament to the town's rich soccer history and its contributions to the sport at both national and global levels.

Harrison's passion for soccer, its historical significance, and its ties to the Red Bulls Soccer Team might hopefully one day lead the Red Bulls organization to reconsider their decision and bring their youth soccer camps to this historic soccer town. This move could inspire the next generation of soccer stars in Harrison and continue the town's legacy of producing world-class talent. Until then, the residents of Harrison will continue to support the Red Bulls and the beautiful game of soccer with undying enthusiasm and pride. Some may hold it against the Red Bulls organization that the youth of Harrison NJ are not important to the organization that on every event at the Red Bulls causes traffic and road closures effecting the resident of Harrison.
