Red Bulls Arena: Highlights of Ecuador v. Nigeria Soccer Game
Jun 04, 2022If you were wondering what all the honking and noise was about in Harrison, NJ on Thursday evening, it was because 25,000 soccer fans had descended on the Red Bulls Arena to watch Ecuador take on Nigeria in an international friendly. The game was a sold-out event and caused massive traffic jams as the population of Harrison more than doubled for the night. Though Ecuador ended up winning the game, it was a low-scoring affair with some very nice highlights.
If you're interested in seeing what all the fuss was about, highlights from the game can be found on the YouTube channel Naija Bias Football Channel. All in all, it was quite a night for Harrison.
The Harrison Police assisted by Hudson County Sheriff's office were extremely busy dealing with car accidents, minor disturbances, and crowd control. The latter was not easy with 25,000 fans trying to get to the arena. All in all, though it was a bit of a madhouse, the game went off without any major incidents.
Harrison residents would prefer no International games as those games sell out the stadium and cause havoc for residents, Police, Fire, and the Department of Public works employees. The Department of Public works had crews out cleaning up the substantial litter left by fans who were celebrating early and stayed late. Many of the fans for sure extended their weekend by taking Friday off to recover.
