Harrison residents should be aware of updates to the town’s upcoming meeting schedule. On Monday, October 28, 2024, the Harrison Redevelopment Agency will hold a meeting at 1 p.m., though no agenda has been made available on the town’s website at this time. However, the Harrison Planning Board meeting, originally scheduled for Wednesday, October 30, 2024, has been canceled.

The next scheduled Mayor and Council meeting will take place on Tuesday, November 19, 2024, beginning at 6:15 p.m., though it’s worth noting that the Mayor & Council are known to schedule special meetings so there may be a meeting before November 19, 2024.

Public attendance is strongly encouraged at these meetings. During each public session, residents have the opportunity to address the Commissioners, the Mayor, and council members, ask questions, and express their concerns. Alexander Hamilton famously stated that "the people govern; here they act by their immediate representatives." Hamilton’s words underscore the importance of active public involvement in government proceedings to ensure accountability and transparency. By engaging in local meetings, Harrison residents help to strengthen the foundation of democracy at the heart of their community. That would make Alexander Hamilton very happy.
