St. Patrick Day's Parade
Additionally, the United Irish Associations of West Hudson is excited to announce that the St. Patrick's Day Parade will kick off promptly at 1 p.m.on Sunday, March 10, 2024, from the front of the Harrison Town Hall in Harrison, NJ, and make its way up North Frank E. Rodgers Blvd., passing through East Newark on its journey to the Kearny Town Hall in neighboring Kearny, NJ. This parade, a cornerstone event for the community, showcases the vibrant Irish culture and brings together people of all ages to celebrate.
The United Irish Associations of West Hudson, Inc., a beacon of Irish-American cultural preservation, was officially formed as a non-profit corporation in the State of New Jersey in 1989. The foundation was laid in October 1973 when four clubs - The Ancient Order of Hibernians Division 7, The Irish-American Club, The Four Provinces, and The Friends of Erin - joined forces. The first parade in 1974, organized by this newly formed association, set the precedent for what has become an annual tradition of celebration and cultural expression.
Over the years, the association has grown to include nine organizations, each contributing to the parade's success and the ongoing mission of educating the public about Irish-American culture. These organizations, which include AOH Division 7, Friends of Erin, Irish-American Association of Kearny, and several others, appoint members to serve as Trustees of the United Irish, ensuring the parade and other cultural events continue to thrive.
As we look forward to the Honoree Dinner and the St. Patrick's Day Parade, the United Irish Associations of West Hudson invites the community to join in honoring the legacy and contributions of William W. Dow Jr., Stanley "Billy" Titterington, and Gloria O'Reilly Spence. It's an opportunity to come together in celebration of our shared heritage and the enduring bonds that tie the Irish-American community to the vibrant history of West Hudson.
