Upcoming Harrison Public Meetings Week of 2/24/25 Key Dates & Location

Feb 21, 2025
Harrison Town Hall Mayor & Council Chambers

Residents of Harrison should mark their calendars for several important public meetings scheduled for the week of February 24, 2025. These meetings are essential for staying informed about the town’s ongoing development and local governance.

Harrison Redevelopment Agency Meeting – Monday, February 24, 2025, at 1 p.m.

The Harrison Redevelopment Agency will hold its meeting on Monday, February 24, 2025, at 1 p.m. This meeting will take place in the Mayor’s Conference Room, conveniently located just outside the Mayor’s Office on the 3rd floor of Harrison Town Hall. The Redevelopment Agency often discusses critical initiatives affecting the town’s growth and revitalization, so residents are encouraged to attend.

Each meeting includes a Public Session, where members of the public can ask questions, provide comments, and make suggestions to officials. A 5-minute time limit is typically enforced for public speaking, though the chair of the meeting has the discretion to extend that time if necessary.

Planning Board & Mayor & Council Meetings – Wednesday, February 26, 2025

Wednesday, February 26, 2025, will feature a rare overlap of two important public meetings at Harrison Town Hall.

Harrison Planning Board – 6:30 p.m.

The Planning Board will convene at 6:30 p.m. in the spacious 2nd Floor Mayor & Council Chambers. This room is known for its high ceilings and ample space, providing a comfortable environment for social distancing. Interestingly, it has been over a year since Mayor Fife and the Council last held a meeting in this chamber, preferring the much smaller Mayor’s Conference Room on the 3rd floor for their own meetings.

As with other public meetings, the Planning Board will hold a Public Session, allowing attendees to ask questions, offer comments, and provide suggestions. Speakers will be allotted 5 minutes, with the option for an extension at the chair’s discretion.

Mayor & Council Special Meeting – 6:15 p.m.

A Special Meeting of the Mayor & Council is scheduled for 6:15 p.m., to be held in the significantly smaller Mayor’s Conference Room on the 3rd floor. Although this meeting is not a regularly scheduled session, it has not been officially listed as a “special meeting,” which may raise questions about transparency. As of Friday morning, no agenda has been released for the meeting, and, likely, one will only be available on the day of the meeting, leaving little time for public review. This lack of advance notice and the Fife Administration’s record on transparency has raised concerns among residents in the past.

A Public Session will also be included during this meeting, allowing residents to voice their concerns, ask questions, and make suggestions. As with other town meetings, the 5-minute speaking limit applies, but the chair can extend the time as necessary.

Transparency Concerns

The absence of a published agenda ahead of time for the Mayor & Council meeting has drawn criticism from local observers, who argue that transparency is lacking in the Fife Administration. As it stands, residents hoping to attend these meetings will need to be prepared for last-minute changes and limited information.

In summary, the upcoming meetings are an opportunity for Harrison residents to engage with local governance and stay informed about the ongoing development and decisions affecting the town.
