Are You Ready: Red Bulls Home Opener v. FC Dallas Sat. Mar. 9, 2024

Are you ready for the Red Bull Arena’s awakening for the 2024 season?  A little over a month from today (1/31/2024) or 38 days exactly the New York Red Bulls will have their home opener at the Red Bull Arena against FC Dallas to open up their 2024 Major League Soccer (MLS) season. The game is presented by Oanda, on Saturday, March 9, at 7:30 p.m. ET, marking their first meeting since 2022.

A Packed 2024 Schedule

The Red Bulls' 2024 season is packed with thrilling matches, including five consecutive home games. Following their opener against FC Dallas, their next home match will be against Inter Miami CF on Saturday, March 23, 2024, with an early kickoff at 2 p.m. ET.  The Lionel Messi effect will undoubtedly sell out the Red Bull Arena. 

A notable game sees the Red Bulls hosting Vancouver Whitecaps for College Night on April 27, 2024, their first encounter since 2019. Additionally, the team will make a significant away game at DICK’S Sporting Goods Park, a venue they haven't visited since May 12, 2018.

Midweek Matches and Varied Schedule

Fans can look forward to five-midweek matches, with two at home and three on the road. The majority of the season comprises 28 Saturday games and a single Sunday match. The Red Bulls will compete in a home-and-home series against all 14 Eastern Conference opponents, with six games against Western Conference teams evenly divided between home and away.

The New York Derby and Notable Rivalries

A highlight of the season is the New York Derby against cross-town rivals NYCFC. The first derby of the season is set for Citi Field or Yankee Stadium on May 18, 2024. The rivalry will reignite on September 28, 2024, at the Red Bull Arena.

A Finale with the Defending Champions

The Red Bulls will conclude their regular season by hosting the defending 2023 MLS Cup champions, Columbus Crew, on Decision Day, October 19.

2024 Season: More Than Just Soccer

The 2024 season will not only be about soccer. The Red Bulls are introducing new theme nights, including Bark Night, Kids Night Under 12, and a Drone Show. Popular theme nights like Marvel Night, Star Wars Night, and Noche Latina are set to return. Not to mention the unofficial Lionel Messi sell-out night.

Packed Schedule for Red Bull Arena

Last year the Red Bull Arena had a packed schedule with 50 events. Will this year bring more than 50 events?  Only time will tell.  We know that there will be no game on July 4^th, Independence Day, because the Red Bull management has promised never to schedule another game on July 4^th.  Last year (2023), Red Bull Arena’s management scheduled back-to-back International Games which did not go over well with residents.  There is something about having a day off to enjoy the United States of America’s Independence Day and being confronted by a sell-out crowd for two back-to-back International Games with very enthusiastic fans taking over the streets and preventing residents from accessing their apartment buildings and homes.

There is still anxiety among residents who reside in homes and apartments in Harrison’s southern end of Town (SOHA) where the Red Bull Arena is located over accessing their residencies.  Last year, residents protested at Harrison Mayor & Council meetings but despite promises to review the town’s Red Bull traffic plan at the end of the day, no changes were made to the plan.
