Harrison Police Investigate Shooting; Offer Crisis Resources

A serious incident on the night of February 2, 2025, shocked the local community. At approximately 10:30 PM, the Harrison Police Department was called to a scene on the 300 block of Passaic Avenue, responding to what was initially reported as a medical emergency. Upon arrival, officers found an individual suffering from a gunshot wound to the head. The victim, whose name has not been released pending further investigation, was alive at the scene but later pronounced dead around midnight at a local hospital.

The Harrison Police Department’s Detective Unit along with the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office, are jointly investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting. Early assessments did not indicate foul play, and detectives are considering all possibilities including an accidental discharge or a deliberate act by the victim.
