CANCELED: Tuesday July 16, 2024 Mayor & Council Meeting
Jul 16, 2024Please be advised that the Tuesday, July 16, 2024 Meeting of the Harrison Mayor & Council was canceled this afternoon. The cancellation has been confirmed with Mayor James Fife and the Town of Harrison official website has been updated to reflect the cancellation.
Your Harrison will provide information on the next scheduled Town of Harrison Mayor & Council meeting. Those of you who were going to attend the meeting have now felt what it is like to commit to attending a local town meeting. Attending a Mayor & Council meeting is an important step in being a part of the community. You can express your thoughts on what you think should be improved or changed in your community and you also get to hear other opinions on what others think is important for the Town of Harrison.
The Town of Harrison faces several issues. Those issues are known issues like Lack of Parking and Green Space, Flooding, Red Bull Arena Traffic, Air Quality Improvement, after-school programs for Kids, and the EPA's plan to put a Toxic Dioxin-Laden Sludge Plant in Harrison. Transparency is not one of the Mayor & Council's strongest attributes. The Town of Harrison does not audio record, nor video record its Mayor & Council meetings regularly. Only on occasion has a Mayor & Council meeting been video recorded and that is because it was a Zoom meeting. It is the only town in the immediate area that does not audio or video for its meetings.
For those who had made plans to go to the Mayor & Council meeting tonight, Thank You. You have the night off but remember that without your participation in your local government, our Democracy suffers. We, residents and stakeholders, need to take turns at attending town meetings so that we make a great town even better.
