Jul 24, 2024The Town of Harrison Recreation Department announced a Football Camp set to take place on Wednesday, July 24, 2024, and Friday, July 26, 2024. The camp will be held at the Little League Field located at 728 Harrison Avenue from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. each day. This camp is a prime opportunity for young athletes aged 7 to 14 to prepare for the upcoming Pop Warner Football Season.
The Pop Warner Football program, established in 1929 by Joseph J. Tomlin in Philadelphia, is one of the oldest and most respected youth football organizations in the United States. Named after the legendary football coach Glenn Scobey "Pop" Warner, the program emphasizes not only athletic skill but also academic achievement and character development. Pop Warner Football aims to instill values of teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship in its participants while ensuring a fun and safe environment for young athletes to grow and compete.
The Harrison Football Camp will feature a variety of structured drills designed to develop and refine essential football skills. Participants will engage in strength training and speed training exercises, which are crucial for enhancing overall athletic performance. Additionally, the camp will include inter-quad scrimmages, giving young athletes the chance to apply their skills in a game-like setting and experience the excitement of competition.
One of the key highlights of this camp is its accessibility. There is no necessity to pre-register, making it easy for any interested child to participate. Simply show up on the first day of the camp, ready to learn, play, and have fun.
The Recreation Department encourages all parents to bring their children to this enriching and enjoyable camp. It promises to be an excellent preparation for the upcoming Pop Warner season and a wonderful opportunity for children to make new friends, stay active, and develop a passion for football.
