Redevelopment Meeting: Accordia, Supor & Environmental Issue Mon. May 22, 2023, at 1 pm
May 20, 2023The Town of Harrison Redevelopment Agency has scheduled its upcoming meeting for Monday, May 22, 2023, at 1 p.m. This key gathering will be held in the Town of Harrison Council Chambers, situated on the 2nd Floor of the Harrison Town Hall, 318 Harrison Avenue, Harrison, NJ. Please note that the meeting is in-person only.
The meeting will feature four items on its agenda:
(1) Review and Approval of the Minutes of the prior meeting from Monday, April 24, 2023,
(2) Resolution to Pay Bill List,
(3) Redevelopment Agreement with Accordia Harrison Urban Renewal, LLC, and
(4) Redevelopment Agreement with Supor Properties Harrison, LLC.
Resolutions Missing
However, please note that while the Agenda is available online, it does not include the proposed Resolutions that correspond to the agenda items or the Redevelopment Agreements noted above. Attendees and stakeholders wishing to review these resolutions and Agreements are encouraged to contact the Harrison Redevelopment Agency before the meeting.
Given the importance of maintaining open lines of communication with residents and stakeholders, it is noteworthy that, as of this meeting, there will no longer be a Zoom option available for attending the meeting virtually. Many municipalities throughout New Jersey offer in-person public meetings along with Zoom. The Town of Harrison however does not. During the pandemic Zoom became a lifeline for public entities conducting business, now that municipalities are returning to In-Person meetings those who see Zoom as an aid to transparency and increase public participation because of convenience feel that the State of New Jersey should mandate that public meetings offer a Zoom option as well.
Environmental Matters
Regarding the bill list, it's important to note that two of the items pertain to environmental matters. The first item involves a bill from LSRP Consulting - Environmental concerning the Red Bulls Arena, a prominent structure within Harrison's jurisdiction. The second item is the NJDEP Remedial Action permit payment, a mandatory contribution made to the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection, ensuring compliance with state environmental standards and regulations. It is not clear what the Environmental is at the Red Bull Arena. There has not been any discussion of an Environmental issue at the Red Bulls Arena in any recent meeting of Harrison Redevelopment Agency meetings going back at least one year.
Accorda Harrison and Supor Agreements
The redevelopment agreements with Accordia Harrison Urban Renewal, LLC and Supor Properties Harrison, LLC are on the Agenda but neither the proposed Resolution nor the Redevelopment Agreements were posted online. It is not clear whether the specifics of these agreements will be discussed in detail during the meeting.
Stakeholders, residents, and interested parties are invited to attend this important meeting to gain firsthand information about the town's ongoing redevelopment efforts. As a reminder, all proceedings will be conducted in the Council Chambers on the 2nd Floor at the Harrison Town Hall, located at 318 Harrison Avenue, Harrison NJ, starting at 1 p.m.
